Blog Category Listing (Eco Friendly Paper)

As I write the blog I get to decide what I want to put up and cards are featuring heavily at the moment. We have had a bit of a run on greetings cards just recently, and not all Christmas themed.  As a flavour here is a picture of just some of the cards that all arrived at the same time as orders.  Can you guess my favourite? Yup, the cat wins hands down every time. You could bottle that look and sell it! These were all printed on our lovely new Xerox digital press and all of these are printed on FSC silk art board.

Business cards.  What can you say - they can be really dull or really great, just like these!  A super pretty design, lovely soft colours that compliment the recycled board and all in all just a good design. All of the infomation you need is on the card but the eye is drawn to the pretty butterfly image - and as we all know, colour and imagery is retained in the memory far longer than plain text. Along with the cards are some A6 flyers printed in exactly the same style for brand enforcement.

Our business cards are printed litho with vegetable oil based inks on heavy silk art or recycled board with prices starting £25 for 250 cards which does include delivery.

OK, so the last posting day for Christmas is looming and we are probably all a bit fed up of looking at festive cards and decorations, but I felt that this card was worth a mention because there is so much energy to it! I really love the fact that everyone is tearing about on bicycles and every other form of transport - and they all have a smile on their face.  If only that was true whenever I go Christmas shopping!

Our Christmas cards (or any greeting cards) are printed digitally on silk art FSC or 100% recycled boards and supplied with gummed diamond flap envelopes, and with 200 for £74 they are pretty reasonable too :)

When all the paper we collect goes for recycling how exactly is the ink removed?   

Paper sent for recycling is de-inked by either washing or flotation - or a combination of both methods:

1. Washing - As the paper is pulped, soaps are added which separate the ink from the paper and allow it to be washed away in water which is then cleaned and re-used.

2. Flotation - Air is passed through the pulp producing a foam which captures at least half of the ink and can be skimmed off.

After de-inking the pulp may also bleached using hydrogen peroxide which breaks down into water and oxygen on disposal.  Although the de-inking process uses water and chemicals it is still less harmful to the environment than the manufacturing process of making new paper.

Ink that is removed from recycled pulp can be burned to generate energy to run the paper mill, or sold to make useful materials such as compost or gravel for roads.

Just a small selection of some of the recycled flyers we printed on one of our print runs the other week. What this collection demonstrates so ably is how well recycled flyer printing works in reproducing photographic images, illustrations and simple colour graphics. Which means it is a good all round material - thick, FSC certified and 100% recycled.  What more could you ask for?

With only 8 weeks to Christmas (yikes!) we are printing lots of seasonal wrapping paper and other Christmassy stuff.  So when my radar spots a sheet of wrapping paper that is covered in frogs I am naturally curious! Frogs you say?  Yup, frogs.  And complete with a frog swing tag too.  At first I was certain that the pattern within the frog was a festive image, but on closer inspection I am not so sure.  What I do know is that I, like many other people, are rather fond of frogs so as far as I am concerned the frogs get a big thumbs up.

Froggy pics, or those of any other amphibians, can be used for bespoke wrapping paper which can be ordered from our website on FSC certified silk, gloss or recycled paper.

Digitally printed on 100% recycled board this eco Christmas card printing features a simple but stunning design - goes to show that sometimes less is more.  A single design has been reverse printed out of different background colours to create a suite of four cards - ideal for retail or personal use.  And because they are eco printed on 100% recycled board they can be carefully recycled after the festive season is over!

Here's somthing you don't often see me blogging about - some freshly printed eco letterheads.  Most of the letterhead printing we do is for local business and, well, to be blunt, a bit corporate in design.  So it is very refreshing to see some pretty letterheads for a childrens clothing company that is fun, quirky and as letterheads go, quite entertaining.  We have a trio of designers on-site who would love to help you zing up your letterheads - or we are just happy to print them as you design them.  Choose from100% recycled, FSC laser bond or super smooth Advocate FSC.

Pretty pretty notebook printing.  Another selection of my personal stash of notebooks that are for my own personal use! Not that I would write in them, they are too gorgeous for that.  I just like to look at them (starting to think that I might need some help weaning myself off my printed notebook fixation). Eco printed with 100% recycled materials these little gems tick all the green boxes too.  Ideal for Christmas I'd say....

I am starting to turn in to a printed notebook hoarder - that, plus all the wrapping paper hoarding I do, is starting to make it difficult to get behind my desk. Ask anyone in our office and they will readily agree that I can't leave a notebook behind - it would just be too painful.  Of course the blame really lies with our customers who produce the most gorgeous designs, like the ones above.  I will take some credit for the beautiful printing we do, after all as the printer it would be silly not to!

Digitally printed covers on 100% recycled board means that you can have up to five different covers within the published prices so why not let your imagination run riot?!
