Eco Business – Environmental Business Section on UK Business Forums

By Miranda | October 31, 2007

Our favourite UK Business Forum – UKBF – has today launched a new category for eco business and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) issues. This is a ground breaking step from UKBF, which is the largest and most popular Small Business Forum in the UK.

The new section, aptly named “The Green Room” gives existing UKBF members with an interest in such matters a natural home to discuss the issues, and is bound to attract new members who were previously reliant on using niche Forums and websites to discuss these business issues and to find information.

Why is the UKBF Green Room so Important?

Quite simply, it brings environmental issues to the forefront of consideration for the UKBF audience, namely small business owners and start-ups.

Previously, this information would be considered secondary, niche or marginal to many owner operators. Bringing the discussion to the fore can only be a good thing, especially when you consider that over 50% of business GDP and employment is provided by the small business community in the UK.

In a word, it takes the subject “mainstream”.

UKBF should be applauded for this development :)

Many thanks for your kind words Ray. It was clear from the debate and discussion on UK Business Forums that many members felt a area dedicated to green issues would be very useful. With increasing pressure on companies to play a part in combating climate change, ‘The Green Room’ is a place where small business owners can come together to share ideas.

how about trying out the Envirowise website for free government-supported environmental consultation, advice, and documentation for UK businesses. we have just launched a new environmental indicator for UK business and the Indicator comes pre-loaded with resource and waste costs across six of the UK’s largest sectors including office, retail, food and drink, manufacturing.
