NEW Battery Recycling Regulations - Feb 2010
New regulations have been introduced to enable easier recyling of household batteries, which includes cell batteries and rechargeable batteries.  All stores that sell over 32kg of batteries per year must now offer a recycling point in store.  More information is available on the NetRegs website.

Food Labelling and Carbon Footprints - Jan 2010
72% of people polled in a supermarkets survey would like to see the Carbon Footprint of the product clearly identified on the label.  This will encourage them to make greener choices.  The survey results come hot on the heels of the government's publication of their Food 2030 strategy on 7th January.  More on this article on the Packaging News website.

Raising Money for Pudsey
A Local Printer is printing and donating 1000 Christmas cards and envelopes to St Mary's School in Horsham.  The design for the card has been supplied by the children and is of a picture made from recycled ceramic, glass and plastic.  Money raised from the sales of the cards will be split between the school and Children in Need.


 

TetraPak Go FSC!
Here's some great news - TetraPak have announced plans to use FSC certified materials on 75% of their cartons in the UK and Ireland.  This will equate to a whopping 1.5bn packs!  
Way to go TetraPak!

FSC Friday - 25th September 2009
25th September sees the first international day of recognition for FSC, designed to promote global awareness of sustainable forest management and the products that are covered by the FSC certification.  There are lots of events in the UK celebrating and promoting the success of FSC - why not click on the link in the logo to see if there are any events in your neck of the woods (excuse the pun!).
